Embedded sim (eSim) is a form of sim card that's embedded directly into your phone. It is a digital version of the traditional physical SIM card.

Unlike old physical SIM cards, e-SIMs deliver above the limitations by eliminating the need to switch SIM cards physically. With eSIM, you can switch between different mobile networks, plans, and even countries, all without changing a physical card. This means you can stay connected while traveling, save money by choosing the best deals, and enjoy a seamless, hassle-free experience.

In this guide, we will walk you through how the eSIM works on iPhones and Android phones.

Benefits of eSIM in Nigeria

Convenience: No need to visit a telecom office to get a SIM card or worry about losing or damaging it. You can activate an eSIM remotely, making it ideal for people who travel frequently or want the flexibility of changing networks with ease.

Dual SIM Functionality: Many eSIM-capable phones support both an eSIM and a physical SIM, allowing users to have two numbers on one device. This is perfect for Nigerians who want to keep both personal and business numbers on the same phone or those who frequently travel and want to use local and international numbers.

Better Security: eSIMs are more secure than physical SIM cards. Since they can’t be easily removed or stolen, they provide better protection for your phone, especially in cases of theft.

Cost Savings: With eSIM, there’s no need to buy or replace physical SIM cards, which saves costs in the long run. Telecom companies in Nigeria also offer eSIM-specific packages, which might come with better deals or pricing.
