Do you need guidelines on passport application from Nigeria?

If you are Applying from Nigeria, the process for the application is straightforward and pretty easy. The passport application is done online and applicant will be required to visit a passport office for biometric enrolment.

In this article, we will show you how to easily submit your passport application online.

Things to Note

  • Make sure you check center availability before you begin your application
  • Visit https://appointments.immigration.gov.ng/availability/
  • Choose preferred location as Nigeria and click on "Find Available Appointment Date"

Application Process

Step 1: Visit the official application page

Visit the official webpage to submit your application at https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/. From there,  click on "Apply For Fresh Passport" to begin your application for a new passport.

Step 2: Submit NIN

Next, you will be required to submit your NIN and Date Of Birth. Fill the correct details and input the captcha code to verify that you are human, then click on "Verify".

The system will verify your NIN and pull out your profile details from the NIN. Verify the details and click on "Continue" to confirm.

If one of more of your details are not correct, you will have to rectify that with NIMC before you proceed.

Step 3: Select Processing Options

Choose your preferred passport processing center. This is where you’ll do biometrics.

Once that is done, select your passport booklet type:

  • 32 pages (for low-frequency travelers)
  • 64 pages (for frequent travelers)

Step 4: Upload Your ICAO-Compliant Passport Photo

Upload a clear passport photograph that meets ICAO standards (white background, no face obstruction, neutral expression).
 

Step 5: Review Personal Information

After uploading passports, your personal details (name, DOB, etc.) are automatically pulled from your NIMC record.

Confirm all information is correct.

Step 6: Enter Contact Details & Next of Kin
Provide your home address and contact number and fill in your Next of Kin details (name, phone number, and relationship).

Step 7: Upload Supporting Documents

Depending on your application type, upload the required documents.

  • For fresh applications, this may include birth certificate, age declaration, or local government certificate of origin.

Step 8: Review & Submit Your Application

Carefully review all details entered and submit the application.

Thereafter, proceed to make payment online.

Step 9: Book an Appointment for Biometric Enrollment

After payment, schedule an appointment at your chosen Immigration Office and proceed to print your acknowledgment slip and payment receipt.

Step 10: Appear for Biometric Capture

For biometric capture, you must physically appear at the Immigration Office.

Your fingerprints, photo, and signature will be captured.

Once your biometrics are captured, your passport will be processed and made available for collection at your chosen Immigration Office.
