Call forwarding is a feature on your phone that lets you redirect incoming calls to a different phone number. It is  useful for directing calls to another phone when you're unavailable or when you have multiple telephone lines but want all the calls routed to one of the lines which is your main number.

How Call Forwarding Works

Call forwarding works like having a personal assistant that redirects calls to you. When a call is placed to your number, the call forwarding  system detects that forwarding is enabled for the call and it creates a new outgoing call to the any available number that you provide.

In practical, lets say you have a phone number A for your business and the phone or that line is always at your office. You can activate call forwarding for that phone such that calls to line A routes to your personal line (line B) whenever you are away from the office.

Two types of call forwarding:

There are two types of call forwarding. The unconditional and conditional call forwarding.

For unconditional forwarding, all the calls to the line you place it on will be forwarded while conditional forwarding only redirects calls whe the line you place it on is busy, unreachable or unavailable.

That's why you have to set the one that best suit the condition and that you deem perfect for your situation.

Why Activate or Deactivate Call Forwarding On Mtn, Glo, Airtel & 9mobile?

As I explained briefly earlier, call forwarding can be very useful when you are busy or your phone is out of reach, you might not want to be carrying your phones everywhere for people using multiple phones and you need to answer all your incoming calls, you can redirect it to another active line so you can receive all your important calls.

The downside of call forwarding is that you may be charged for the forwarded calls by your service provider, sometimes the calls might be compromised too which might lead to exposing sensitive informations about you, Then another might be the heavy dependence on stable network, If the network is very bad in the area you are you might entirely miss out on important calls.

Despite the downsides, call forwarding is a useful tool to stay reachable and manage your communication anywhere.
