How to Get Blue Tick on X in Nigeria (Opay & Naira Cards)

Quite a number of people have complained that it is sometimes frustrating to successfully  subscribe for X Premium (formerly Twitter Blue) in Nigeria.

I agree with the believe because before now, the  payment was frustrated because Naira cards simply don’t work for international subscriptions.

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide on how to get the blue tick on X in Nigeria.

 

Step 1: Get Your Opay Physical Card or Any Other Bank Card Ready

Before anything else, the reason why I am putting Opay cards first is because they are the most popular option.

It’s worth noting that Nigerian Naira cards have now been approved for international payments.

So if you have a physical card from banks like GTBank, Zenith, Access, or UBA, it should work for X Premium as well, just ensure international transactions are enabled.

If you already have your physical card, move to the next step.

Step 2: Make Sure You Have Enough Balance

Before subscribing, make sure you have at least ₦7,700 in your Opay or bank account. The amount will cover the monthly X Premium plan and any other possible currency conversion charges by your bank.

Step 3: For Android Users

If you’re using an Android phone, this method works perfectly:

1. Open your Google Play Store.
2. Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Payment methods.
3. Choose Add card and enter your Opay or Naira debit card details.

Once your card is added:

• Open the X app.
• Tap your profile icon → Premium.
• Select the plan that shows around ₦7,600+ (monthly).
• Tap Subscribe and complete the payment using your Google Play payment method.

That’s it! your X account will instantly upgrade, and you’ll get the blue tick beside your name.

Step 4: For iPhone Users

If you’re using an iPhone, the process is just as simple too, just that the payment goes through Apple instead of Google.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.
2. Tap your Apple ID name at the top → Payment & Shipping.
3. Add your Opay physical card or any Naira debit card as a payment method.

Once that’s done:

• Open the X app.
• Tap your profile icon → Premium.
• Choose the ₦7,600+ monthly plan.
• Tap Subscribe — Apple will automatically charge your added card.

After successful payment, you’ll get verified and see your blue tick almost immediately.

Once you’re verified on X, you get access to some cool extras:

• The blue tick
• Ability to post longer tweets and videos
• Priority ranking in replies and searches
• Even the chance to earn through ad revenue sharing if you’re eligible
